„From the desk to thebeach in 10 minutes“

I have been working with RST Rostock System-Technik as a software developer since April 2020. My tasks are in the defence area. Here, we are partner of several large technology companies. In particular, I enjoy the business trips to our customers: they provide an even more intense insight into the respective project and the requirements it entails. You interact personally with your contact partners and become acquainted with the systems on which the software to be developed will later run. I draw a good deal of inspiration from this. 

Moreover, from a technological view, I believe that our projects could not be more interesting: software upgrades and innovations for frigates and corvettes, mission planning or military training software – only space is more exciting in the best case! At the same time, I am able to get to learn from several of my colleagues with longstanding experience in such a demanding sector as defence: because security and reliability are top priority here and it is therefore always a question of a perfect balance between proven best practices and innovative technologies when finding solutions. 

What is really special at RST: our location is directly by the Baltic Sea! Go to the beach after work in the summer? No problem at all, a 10-minute walk and, hey presto, you’re on holiday! I love playing volleyball and beach volleyball – the proximity to the beach is therefore ideal for me and provides great opportunities to enjoy the end of a working day.
