ArianeGroup wins ESAASTRIS competition

The European Space Agency ESA has awarded ArianeGroup the contract for the development and construction of the additional upper stage ASTRIS for the carrier rocket Ariane 6.

The so-called kick stage enables direct placing of satellites in their geostationary orbits. Moreover, satellites with electrical drives can be transported to their orbits using ASTRIS within just a few hours – instead of the currently several months required. This further increases the versatility and performance of the Ariane 6 rocket for innovative mission types.
