The challenge
As part of the EU research programme “Horizon 2020”, the "Clean Sky" initiative addresses the development of clean and quiet airborne vehicles with substantially lower CO2 emission. With the A340-300 MSN1, Airbus provided a specially equipped test aircraft for this project, on which substantial reequipping and equipping work had to be carried out. In order to enable picture taking within the scope of research work on the nose gear, it was important, for example, to redesign the so-called EBAY access door in the aircraft nose section and to equip it with a camera.
The solution
Within the scope of a joint project with FERCHAU Aviation, RST Rostock System-Technik developed, manufactured and supplied the EBAY access door ready-to-install. The test equipment fitted with cameras and sensors could thus be integrated directly into the nose of the test aircraft.
