MGSE for the Ariane 6assembly line

The ArianeGroup is responsible for the development, manufacturing and provision of the European launch vehicle system Ariane. The company is currently working on the new launcher model Ariane 6. This system is a further technical development vis-à-vis Ariane 5 and, with its cost reduction and modernisation, is intended to ensure competitiveness within a global market which is also increasingly being infiltrated by private suppliers. 

The upper liquid propulsion module (ULPM) for the new Ariane 6 rocket is being integrated at the ArianeGroup Bremen location. The industrial production of the system requires a complex manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing and handling infrastructure. RST Rostock System-Technik developed and manufactured a large number of such devices.

Within the course of the multi-year project, RST supplied diverse special systems for the Ariane 6 assembly line. For its development, the special requirements of extremely large component dimensions had to be taken into account, which required the adherence to minimal manufacturing tolerances. RST provided products such as the following:

• Working platforms
• Lifting tools
• Load equipment
• Operating equipment
• Transport equipment
• Handling rings for the tanks
• Test benches.
