ESA-Earth observationprogramme Copernicus:harness for Sentinel 5
The challenge
RST Rostock System-Technik took over the manufacturing and integration of the wire harness for the ”Near Infrared Spectrometer Optics“ (NIRSO) thermal control system. NIRSO will provide atmospheric observation information on-board the meteorological "Metop-SG Satellite A” as part of Sentinel 5. The integration took place for Jena-Optronik.

The solution
Diverse heaters, sensors and thermal switches were attached and cabled to the surface of the optical device, enabling the controlling and stabilization of the temperature within the relevant instrument section. Thus, variations in temperature in-between orbits, seasons, and along the complete mission lifetime, can be compensated. Manufacturing and integration took place based on ECSS aerospace standards.
