The challenge
The correct, unambiguous and gapless identification of flying galley equipment such as service carts and standard units is currently implemented manually. This gave cause for RST Rostock-System Technik to conduct a feasibility study on the integration of wireless communication technology for non-electrical aircraft galley equipment based on the AIRINC 810 standard.
Automated information reproduction options were examined, for example considering the airline/operator, origin, destination and content/content change. The order came from an aviation OEM and was related to a future expansion of communication options for aircraft galleys.
The solution
The RST specialists realised the feasibility study using physical and digital models. The analysis focussed on the factors robustness, geometry, reach, data type and data quantity here. The study results were documented in 3D and Design Reply. Moreover, the results were interpreted and linked to corresponding solution options.
